Food Additives are substances added to
foods by manufacturers to prevent spoilage or to enhance appearance,
taste, texture, or nutritive value.
With this software and your Pocket PC
the next time you go to the supermarket you can examine the
numbers representing colours, preservatives, additives and
other agents that are listed along with ingredients on most
packaged foods. The EEC code is found on European produced
food but it is used in other countries as well.
The program includes a comprehensive
list of the food additives and the possible problems they
may provoke. It ranges over the influence of the
additives over children, asthma sufferers and people with
kidney or liver problems or susceptible to allergies.
It also indicates which additives are carcinogenic or are
genetically modified. Vegetarians also can check
the EEC codes they should avoid.
